I am a seasoned print and web designer with proven creative and technical skills, as well as solid team and project management abilities. I am enthusiastic about using clean, accessible design to promote my client’s message. A top-notch organizer, I have many years of experience meeting tight deadlines and delivering projects within budget.
Currently I am the Director of Web Design and Content for an internationally-known nonprofit based in the Washington, DC area. I also freelance as a design consultant catering to a wide range of organizations. My past clients have included Save the Children, The Avalon Theatre, The DC Cooperative Housing Coalition, Interages, Octane Marketing, and The Human Rights Campaign, as well as a number of small businesses in the DC region.

Design and manage day-to-day operations of the organizations's website (averaging 3.25 million visits per year) and intranet. Have directed and implemented numerous redesigns of the site since its inception in 1996, and am currently working on the most extensive front- and back-end overhaul to date. Supervise web producer and junior designer and oversee project team, which also includes two senior programmers. Manage design and content flow for the organization's intranet.

In addition to current online duties, responsible for design and production of all exhibit graphics for the 10,000 square-foot display area at the Institute’s crash test center, including management of a $30,000+ annual display budget. Also produce large-format graphics (trade shows, building displays, etc.) for the Institute and, upon request, for member insurance groups. Most recently was a key organizer of the Institute’s 50th anniversary event, ensuring graphics consistency across all displays and materials produced. Frequently serve as backup print designer.
Design and produce identity packages, promotional flyers, advertising campaigns, conference collateral, direct mail campaigns, environmental graphics, presentations, event invitations, and website templates. Work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, USA Today, and other national and local newspapers and publications. Experienced print production artist, able to deliver technically well-formatted files to vendors for error-free finished products.
Designed and produced proposal graphics, conference materials, signage, flyers, advertisements, and event invitations for in-house corporate marketing group serving local government and higher education clients.
Held several retail management positions with concentration on innovative product development and creative merchandise display. Designed store signage and product catalogs.

In addition to many years of on-the-job training, I have attended graphic design classes on the community college level and participated in numerous career development conferences, seminars, and hands-on classes for both print and web design. Most recently attended Nielsen Norman Group’s Web Usability Week 2009 in San Francisco and TJPA’s Quark to InDesign training course in Washington, DC. Will soon be attending Nielsen Norman Group’s Web Usability Week 2010 in New York City.
